Manix

Manix was a pioneering Detroit hip-hop producer whose technical yet organic beats shaped the city’s early rap scene. A linchpin in the industry, he collaborated with icons like Eminem, Big Proof, Kid Rock, and Frizzo, earning a reputation as Eminem’s “Dr. Dre” before Dre’s mentorship. Deeply rooted in hip-hop’s essence, Manix’s passion for music’s purity stood firm against commercial trends. His innovative production, honed in obscurity, first captivated a young Marshall Mathers at Lincoln High School in Warren, MI. Manix passed away on October 19, 2021, at age 49 from a heart attack in Michigan. His enduring contributions to Detroit hip-hop remain revered. RIP Manix. RIP Manix
