Your Plans
Events you create are stored in the app’s private storage on this device. Daycast has no account registration or developer-operated calendar server. Events stay local unless you choose to save a Google Calendar copy or share them. Uninstalling the app or clearing its Android app storage removes local events. Android backup is disabled for this app.
Device Calendars
Daycast can read events from calendars synced to your phone. Starting in version 1.0.2, if you choose a Google calendar and grant write access, Daycast saves or updates a copy of your chosen event in that calendar. Your phone’s Google sync service can send its title, notes, location, date, time, time zone and recurrence to Google. Starting in version 1.0.4, calendar copies also include a Created with Daycast note and, when available, a dated weather snapshot with a forecast emoji. Starting in version 1.0.5, automatic forecast updates can refresh the weather title and description of linked calendar copies that still match the saved Daycast event. Calendar entries changed directly in Google Calendar are left for you to review. The app displays the selected account, verifies the local calendar write and reports the sync status available from Android. It does not independently verify Google’s servers. Changes made in Google Calendar are not copied back into the Daycast event. Removing a Daycast event does not remove its Google Calendar copy. Titles and notes are not sent to weather or advertising providers by Daycast. Disconnect calendar display in Settings or revoke calendar permissions in Android settings.
Locations And Weather
Beginning with version 1.0.1, searching for a place sends the search text to Photon, hosted by komoot, to look up OpenStreetMap place and address data. Searches may use the area from a matching result to find nearby places. Search results are saved privately on the device and reused for up to seven days; clear them in Settings. Version 1.0.0 uses the geocoding service supplied by your Android device. Choosing a forecast location sends its latitude and longitude to the U.S. National Weather Service or MET Norway. These providers receive your IP address and may log the request. Coordinates can reveal a precise location. The app does not request GPS access or continuously track your device. Automatic forecast checks are on by default from version 1.0.5 and can send saved event coordinates to the same weather providers while Daycast is closed, using Wi-Fi or mobile data about every six hours. Starting in version 1.0.6, Perfect day searches and weather preferences are also saved locally when you choose Save search & notify me. Active searches can send their chosen coordinates to the same providers during these background checks. Weather preferences, activity names and calendar availability are matched on the device and are not sent to the weather providers. Remove a saved search in Perfect day or pause its alerts. Turn all automatic checks off in Settings > Automatic weather updates. Forecasts are cached privately on the device; clear them in Settings. Time-zone detection uses geographic boundary data stored in the app; no separate time-zone service receives the selected coordinates.
Advertising
Google AdMob supports this free app. Google’s SDK may collect or share IP addresses, device and advertising identifiers, advertising interactions, diagnostics and approximate location for advertising, analytics and fraud prevention. Consent and privacy controls are presented where required. When available, use Settings > Ad privacy choices to revise them. Daycast does not send event titles, notes or chosen coordinates to AdMob.
Notifications
If allowed, event reminders appear on your device and may include event details and a saved forecast. Forecast availability alerts can also include the event title, local date and time, and weather when a previously unavailable forecast becomes available. Android battery restrictions, offline periods and force-stopping the app can delay or pause these checks and alerts. Saved Perfect day searches can send one alert with the activity name, place, local date and weather when a matching forecast is found. Each search then pauses until rearmed. Use Android’s notification controls to manage lock-screen visibility. Reminders can be delayed by battery restrictions.
Sharing
Event details leave the app when you choose Share and select a destination. Your calendar provider has its own policies.
Data Controls
Delete individual events in their detail screen. To remove all local Daycast data, clear the app’s storage in Android settings or uninstall it. No account deletion request is needed because Daycast does not create user accounts. Third-party services manage their own retained data.
Audience
Daycast is a general productivity app and is not directed to children under 13.
